PRACTICE MODE

Practice in peace, without interruptionsMetronome & Tuner App

Tap “Start practice” and your phone goes quiet.
Calls, texts and chat apps won’t break your focus.

Fully isolated
ISOLATED

THE INTERRUPTION

One notification mid-practice, and the feel you just found is gone.

Most tuners and metronomes solve “am I in tune?”
None of them solve “leave me alone”.

01PRACTICE

Practice Mode

Isolation in one tap. The screen always shows how protected you are right now —

  • Fully isolated
  • Silenced
  • Unprotected

No guessing.

02TEMPO & PITCH

Metronome & Tuner

A native audio engine keeps the beat steady. With a calibrated test tone, pitch readings reach ±1 cent, and stay consistent while you play.

From guitar, violin and winds to erhu, pipa and guzheng — it recognizes the note you play.

03LOG

Practice Log

How long you practiced each day is recorded automatically.

Streaks and a monthly heat map — nothing to type in by hand.

04MUSIC GAME & SCORES

A play-along sheet music app that listens and scores your timing and pitch

Quietune’s music game listens through the microphone and scores every note for timing and pitch. Play the 12 built-in pieces or import your own MusicXML scores, at any tempo from 50% to 120%.

Import scores: MusicXML and zip

.musicxml, .xml, .mxl and zip files are supported. Got a file from your teacher on LINE, in Mail or in Files? Tap Share and choose Quietune. For multi-part scores, pick the parts you want to practice. Files stay on your phone.

Music game: timing and pitch scored

Play along with the screen and every note is scored for timing and pitch, with your results at the end. 12 built-in pieces, tempo from 50% to 120%, shown as blocks or staff notation.

Staff view: the whole piece

See the whole piece on the staff, and switch the game to staff mode too. Triplets and other tuplets are drawn correctly and timed exactly.

Listen first, with each instrument’s own sound

Hear the piece once before you practice, played with your instrument’s own sound. Tap any note to play from there.

Rhythm practice: rhythm only

Switch any piece to “Rhythm only”: timing is scored, pitch isn’t. Great for percussion or for getting the rhythm steady first. Scores are kept separately from the normal mode.

Beginner rhythm hints: beat grid and counting

Turn on “Beginner hints” to see a beat grid and counting syllables (or numbers) under the notes, with syncopations, triplets and ties marked. After you play, “Rhythm notes” on the results page tell you which bar was early, late or had uneven triplets; tap “Practice this bar” to replay it.

Listen to the rhythm: 50% speed and bar loop

Not sure how a rhythm goes? Tap “Listen to the rhythm” for a woodblock demo, slow it to 50% or 75%, loop one bar, then “Play along” and see whether each note was early, on time or late (practice only, not scored).

4 rhythm practice pieces

A new “Rhythm basics” group: syncopation in a beat, notes tied over the bar, three in a beat, and triplets mixed with eighths, starting with the rhythms beginners trip over most.

Beat cue and latency calibration

Follow the beat with a metronome icon, or hear a woodblock in your headphones. If the sound lags, calibrate the latency two ways: tap along (headphones or speaker), or automatic (the phone speaker plays and the microphone listens). With Bluetooth headphones that haven’t been calibrated yet, the app reminds you and takes you straight to calibration.

Accompaniment in your headphones

With a multi-part score, the other parts play along in your headphones, with adjustable sounds and volume. Without headphones the accompaniment would be heard as your playing, so that round is practice only and not scored.

Fingering charts: violin, cello, erhu, guitar, ukulele

Under the lane, see which string and finger to use for the current note (frets for guitar and ukulele) and where the next note is. Tap any note on the staff to see its fingering.

Ensemble in sync: up to about 60 people

Up to about 60 people in the same room follow the score together: when the leader taps Start, every phone counts in at the same moment. Join with a 6-character room code or a QR code. Needs the internet; the microphone stays off and nothing is scored.

Practice recording: share it as a short video

Turn on “Record this practice” and the game records while it scores. Listen right away on the results page or later under Practice recordings. Share your score card and recording as a short video that plays in LINE, Instagram and more. Recordings stay on your phone.

Share your score card

Turn your result into a score card to share, in a classic or colorful style, with a QR code to get Quietune.

Since 1.4.0 the app has a new colorful layout (the classic one is still in Settings) and a welcome page when you open it.

ANDROID / IPHONE

The two platforms differ

ANDROIDSet by the app

Android

The app turns on Do Not Disturb for you. If you don’t want even the incoming-call screen to light up, switch on Airplane Mode as well.

IPHONESystem limit

iPhone

iOS doesn’t allow apps to turn on Focus by themselves — that’s a system rule, not us cutting corners.

So the app includes a guide: a two-minute, one-time setup of your own practice automation. After that, each time you open Quietune, iOS turns on Do Not Disturb through the shortcut you set up, and turns it off again when you close the app. If you also want Airplane Mode switched on automatically, the in-app guide has advanced steps (and reminds you to add a separate time-based automation as a safety net, so you’re never cut off all night if you forget).

AUTO RELEASE

Isolated doesn’t mean unreachable.

Practice Mode has an automatic end time by default (adjustable or off in Settings), and the screen always shows how many minutes you’ve been isolated. Even if the phone closes the app unexpectedly, Android has a backup that tries to turn off Do Not Disturb on time — the only exception is if you force-stop the app in system settings yourself; then reopen Quietune or turn it off manually.

No need to worry about getting lost in practice and finding missed calls afterwards.

PRIVACY

The microphone detects pitch in real time on your phone — never uploaded, never sent to any AI. Audio is recorded only when you turn on “Record this practice” in the game; recordings stay on your phone, and you decide whether to share them.

Tuner, metronome, practice log and music game all work offline — even in Airplane Mode. Imported score files stay on your phone; only Ensemble needs the internet.

The current version shows no ads and doesn’t turn on any ad service.

FAQ

Metronome & tuner app FAQ

Quietune is a practice app that silences your phone with one tap and includes a metronome, a tuner, a practice log and a music game that scores your timing and pitch, with MusicXML import.

What is Quietune?

Quietune is a phone app made for practice: tap “Start practice” and your phone goes quiet, so calls and messages don’t interrupt you. It includes a metronome and a tuner and records your daily practice time automatically. Its music game listens as you play, scores your timing and pitch, and lets you practice your own imported scores.

Can it turn on Do Not Disturb automatically on iPhone?

iOS doesn’t allow apps to turn on Focus by themselves. Quietune guides you through a two-minute, one-time Personal Automation shortcut; after that, iOS turns on Do Not Disturb through your shortcut when you open Quietune and restores it when you close the app.

Does Quietune record or upload audio?

It never uploads audio. The microphone detects pitch in real time on your phone and nothing is sent to any AI. The music game has a “Record this practice” switch, off by default; when it’s on, recordings stay on your phone (excluded from cloud backups) and leave it only if you share them yourself. Tuner, metronome and practice log all work offline.

Is Quietune a free metronome and tuner app?

It’s free to download, and the current version has no ads. The tuner, metronome, practice log and music game work offline; only Ensemble needs the internet.

Where can I download it?

The iPhone version is available on the App Store; the Android version is available on Google Play.

Can I import my own sheet music? Which formats work?

Yes. Quietune opens MusicXML (.musicxml, .xml, .mxl) and zip files containing them. In MuseScore or other notation software choose Export, then MusicXML, or open a file from your teacher in LINE or Files with Share, then Quietune. You can pick several parts of a multi-part score at once; parts with chords or several voices are scored as rhythm only. Files stay on your phone and are never uploaded.

How does the music game score me? Can I practice rhythm only?

The game listens through the microphone and scores each note for timing and pitch, with a total on the results page. There are 12 built-in pieces, and the tempo goes from 50% to 120%. Any piece can be switched to “Rhythm only”, which scores timing but not pitch.

Which instruments have fingering charts?

Violin, cello, erhu, guitar and ukulele. Turn on “Fingering chart” in the game and the lane shows which string and finger to use for the current note (frets for guitar and ukulele) and marks the next note. You can also tap any note on the staff to see its fingering.

How does Ensemble work, and how many people can join?

The leader opens a room in Ensemble and picks the piece and tempo; everyone else enters the 6-character room code or scans the QR code and chooses a part. When the leader taps Start, all phones count in together and the score scrolls in sync. A room holds up to about 60 people. It needs the internet (Wi-Fi or mobile data), the microphone stays off, and nothing is scored. For an imported score, everyone imports the same file first.

The click in my Bluetooth headphones lags behind the screen. What can I do?

Run “Click latency” in Settings once. Method 1, tap along: you hear 16 clicks and tap each time; works with headphones (Bluetooth too) or the speaker. Method 2, automatic: the phone speaker plays 12 clicks while the microphone listens; speaker only. For Bluetooth headphones, use method 1. If Bluetooth headphones haven’t been calibrated yet, the app reminds you before a game with clicks or accompaniment, or before you join an ensemble room; “Calibrate” opens calibration right away, and “Not now” won’t ask again for 7 days.

Can I record my practice? Where are recordings stored?

Yes. Turn on “Record this practice” on the music game’s setup page (it’s off by default). Listen on the results page when you finish, or later under Log, Practice recordings. Recordings stay on your phone: never uploaded, excluded from cloud backups and never sent to any AI. When you share, the score card and recording can be made into a short video. Headphones give the cleanest recording; through the speaker, the click and accompaniment are recorded too. Deleted recordings stay in Recently deleted for 30 days.

How do I practice rhythm if syncopation and triplets confuse me?

Turn on “Beginner hints” to get a beat grid and counting under the notes, with syncopations and triplets marked. Tap “Listen to the rhythm” to hear a woodblock demo, slow it to 50% and loop one bar, then play along. There are also 4 rhythm practice pieces (syncopation, ties, triplets). After each round, the results page points out the bar to work on, and one tap replays just that bar.
